PERCHERON (CROSS )
The exact origins of the Percheron have been lost over time. Some believe they are descendants of the horses found in the Ice Age. Others believe that the Percheron is closely related to the Boulonnais horse used in the Roman invasion of Brittany. Still others believe the breed originated with Arab stallions.
Over the years, the Percheron has changed type (today there are still heavy and lighter-heavy types), size, and jobs with great adaptability. Through all of this, the Percheron has remained amenable, active, kind, energetic and elegant. The Percheron is noted for its temperament, its intelligence, ease of handling and willingness to work.

Turtle came home to us in the fall of 2007. We bought him from a horse 'broker' and have no information on his history. A 10-year old gelding, he was advertised as being well broke and bombproof. He is living up to those claims. "Uncle Turtle" willingly does circuits with all visiting kids wanting to ride a horse and is a pasture mate to all of our other horses.
